Set
in 1933, Lars von Trier’s 'Manderlay' is a strange and disturbing
story of
slavery. In the Manderlay
plantation are a group
of people living as though slavery had not been abolished 70 years
earlier.
Grace, against her father’s wishes, decides to liberate the people
and the remain of
the plantation to see them through their first harvest. Grace’s father begrudgingly leaves her but warns her that he will
not be there to pick up the
pieces.
